Worship on the Sabbath or Sunday?

If the Jewish Sabbath is Saturday, then why do Catholics worship on Sunday? Jesus says in Mark 2:27, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath," when his disciples are attacked for not observing the Sabbath. Elsewhere he criticizes the way in which it is followed. Later on, at the Council of Jerusalem, we see the apostles declaring that converts to Christianity do not need to be circumcised - that part of the Old Testament law need not be followed.

The change in worship day from Saturday to Sunday is merely another deviation which even the Bible shows is being followed. Paul says in Colossians 2:17–19 not to let others pass judgment on you with regard to a Sabbath day, which is now only a shadow of its fulfillment. Similarly, Acts 20:7 and 1 Cor. 16:2 tell of Christians breaking bread and contributing to the churches on the first day of the week, or Sunday. Sunday was chosen because it commemorates the Lord's Day, the day of the Resurrection
